The short version
The calculator on this site runs in your browser. The figures you type in are not sent to us, are not stored on our servers, and are never sold. There are no accounts, and we do not ask for your name, address, Social Security number or any tax identifier. The site is supported by advertising and affiliate links, and the advertising involves cookies set by Google and other third parties, described below along with how to opt out.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect personal or financial information through the calculator. Your mileage, lodging, meal and income entries exist only in your own browser session and disappear when you close the page. We do not sell personal information.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and analytics provider, Cloudflare, may record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and pages visited, and may use cookies or similar technologies to keep the site secure and to measure traffic. We use this only to understand how the site is used and to keep it working.
Google AdSense, advertising cookies and the DART cookie
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Google's advertising cookies include the DoubleClick DART cookie.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland

Google notes that sites and apps often ask for consent before allowing Google to process information, for example through a banner (see the Google page linked above). Affiliate links
Some outbound links to tax-preparation services are affiliate links. If you follow one and file a return, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Those services may set their own cookies to credit the referral, and their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices and requests
Because we do not collect personal information through the calculator, there is generally no account or personal record for us to retrieve, correct or delete.
